In season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise, Michael Allio’s chance of a match with anybody seemed to be fading when Sierra Jackson left. However, Danielle Maltby swooped in to rescue the day.
Michael and Maltby shared the sadness of losing a beloved person: Allio’s wife Laura who passed away in the year 2019. Danielle’s boyfriend, Nick Haag, passed to death in the year 2011. Allio told Danielle:
“Sometimes when it [a connection] starts feeling real, the guards go up and you start to look for like, not reasons for it to fail, but not approaching it with the same open way that you would do it before tragedy kind of hit our lives.”
Nick Haag passed away due to a drug overdose in the latter part of March 2011.
Nick Haag passed away in the middle of March just three months after proposing his love to Danielle Maltby. In his obituary, Haag was said to have passed away in the emergency room of Waukesha Memorial Hospital as a result of an overdose.
Danielle discussed the death of her friend Haag in her appearance in Nick Viall’s season The Bachelor. Maltby admitted that she attempted to administer CPR on Haag However, the efforts failed.
“He overdosed on drugs and I found him,” Maltby said to Viall. “I didn’t know he was an addict so it was a complete shock.” The reports claimed Danielle relocated to Haag’s hometown in Nashville, Tennessee, after Haag’s passing.
On the 10th anniversary of the death of Haag, Maltby shared on Instagram that she wrote that her husband’s loss had been weighing on her thoughts for the past month. The woman she was transformed into despite not fully healing from the loss of Haag. Danielle advised those mourning the passing of a beloved person:
“It’s ok to be happy again. It’s ok to laugh even if it makes you feel like crap at first. It’s ok to feel heavy when your song comes on the radio. It’s ok to sit and cry in the shower and it’s ok to scream in your car. It is ok to have new feelings, it’s ok to love new friends.”
“Whoever you lost wants you to be happy and they want you to be happy for you.”
