Traditional Dress Of Gujarat For Men
For Upper Body:
1. Kediyu
Kediyu and Chorno are paired together for a traditional Gujarati outfit.
This is a flowy kurta style with frills. Kediyu, because of its appearance, is also called Angrakhu.

2. Kurta
Kediyu, the traditional Gujarati dress for men is not worn by everyone.
Men wear kurtas in their daily lives.
Kurtas are available in cotton for everyday wear and in silk, Chanderi, or other fancy fabrics.
3. Colorful Shirts
This dress is a Gujarati for men that anyone who has seen ” Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chasmah“, must know.
The colorful shirts worn in the show by “Tappu Ke Papa” aka Jetha Lal speak to every man’s style of dressing in Gujarat.
Daily, men wear shirts that are vibrant and have eye-catching patterns.
For Lower Body
1. Chrono
Gujarati men wear a lot of chorizo.
This is a kind of cotton pant that’s super comfortable. Chorno looks like a dhoti stitched.
The string is tied around the waist. Some men wear the chorizo using an elastic. The traditional way of wearing a chorizo is with a leather strap. However, the second is more comfortable.
2. Dhoti
“Dhoti, a fabric draped over the waist, covering legs and sometimes adorning arms, finds favor among older gentlemen or individuals residing in rural regions of Gujarat.”
Daily, modern Gujarati men wear kurtas with pajamas and trousers or shirts and trousers.

The turban worn in Gujarat by rural men is called phento.
The cloth is layered and wrapped around the hair. Phento comes in a variety of colors and designs.

Traditional Dress Of Gujarat For Women
For Upper Body:
1. Choli:
The most popular traditional Indian clothing style for women is Lehenga or Choli-Ghagra.
Women in Gujarat wear a colorful choli (a type of skirt) with a monochrome or colorful chain. This traditional outfit is decorated with vibrant motifs and a gotta-patti.
It is not worn at weddings or other festive occasions like Navratri.
Women prefer suits/shirts/trousers for regular wear. In rural areas, women still wear choli or chaniyo.
2. Saree:
The saree is a popular style of clothing for women in Gujarat.
The only difference between the sarees of women from Gujarat and those in North India is the pallu.
The pallu is worn on the front in Gujarat. Because it grabs the most attention, the pallu is decorated with eye-catching embroidery and fancy motifs.
Lower Body
1. Chaniyo:
Chaniyos are a style of skirt that comes in many flattering colors.
The traditional Gujarat Chaniyo is made up of thread and mirror work.
The blouse is paired up with a traditional choli and dupatta.
The traditional Gujarati dress is worn at special occasions like weddings or religious ceremonies.
2. Chunri (Dupatta) :
The chunri, or dupatta, is a versatile item of clothing that can be worn with virtually any outfit.
Imagine lehengas, suits, and fusion outfits like ethnic gowns or kurtas!

Gujarati Chunris are known for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns all over the globe.
Gujarati women usually wear it around the neck, either on their left or right shoulder. The rural Gujarati women wear it as a head covering. Chunri represents more to them than an accessory. It is a symbol of their dignity.
These are the traditional dress styles of men and women from Gujarat. Every style is a reflection of the vibrant culture of Gujarat.
